303 TOYS Tianjiao generation 1/6 scale Genghis Khan (Rong Wei version) 12-inch military figure

Genghis Khan, born Temüjin, was the founder and Great Khan (emperor) of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous empire in history after his demise. He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of northeast Asia. After founding the Mongol Empire and being proclaimed "Genghis Khan," he started the Mongol invasions that resulted in the conquest of most of Eurasia. These included raids or invasions of the Kara-Khitan Khanate, Caucasus, Khwarezmid Empire, Western Xia and Jin dynasties. These campaigns were often accompanied by wholesale massacres of the civilian populations – especially in the Khwarezmian and Xia controlled lands. By the end of his life, the Mongol Empire occupied a substantial portion of Central Asia and China.

Brother Production Present 1:6 scale "Mission Important" Custom Hand Made Figure Review II

continued from previous post...

Having reviewed the box and contents plus the first outfit which comes with the Brother Production Present 1:6 scale "Mission Important" Custom Hand Made Figure aka 12-inch Tom Cruise as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible III" in my first part review, here's a look at the figure wearing the Grey Military Jacket which also comes with this boxed figure set. He also has a belt and drop down holster for his pistol. In his hands he has the 1/6 scale Heckler & Koch G36K assault rifle.

Brother Production certainly did a GREAT job with the 1/6 scale "Mission Important" head sculpt. There's no denying that the head sculpt bears a great resemblance to actor and action star Tom Cruise who has played the Ethan Hunt role four times already, with a fifth Mission Impossible film in the works. This could be the best 1:6 scale Tom Cruise head sculpt to date. But I just don't recall seeing Tom Cruise wearing this particular outfit in the films. Even a google search turned out negative. There just don't seem to be any pictures or screen grabs of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) wearing the Grey Military Jacket. Still, the figure looks bada$$ and I like the look.

Review 1: Brother Production Present 1:6 scale "Mission Important" Custom Hand Made Figure

This is the recently released Brother Production Present 1:6 scale Custom Hand Made "Mission Important" 12-inch Figure. It was part of my December 2014 haul (posted earlier HERE)

Mission: Impossible III is the third installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. Tom Cruise returns as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt, who is forced by an arms dealer to steal a mysterious technology known only as "The Rabbit's Foot" in exchange for his kidnapped wife. The 2006 sequel marked the feature film directorial debut of J.J. Abrams (Lost) and co-stars Maggie Q, Ving Rhames, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

It looks like the "Mission: Impossible III" film was the inspiration for Brother Production Presents 1:6 scale "Mission Important" Custom Hand Made 12-inch Action Figure. Ethan Matthew Hunt is a senior field operations agent for the IMF (Impossible Missions Force), an elite, top-secret espionage and covert operations agency that handles dangerous and highly sensitive international missions that have been deemed "impossible". He is portrayed by Tom Cruise in all four films that have been released thus far.

This is not the first Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt figure to be released by Brother Production. They had earlier released the Brothers Production Presents 1/6th scale Final Mission 12-inch figure which is very much based on Tom Cruise as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt in "MI4: Ghost Protocol". You can check out my reviews HERE, HERE and HERE.

Sixthvision 1/6th scale God Complex: Tsukuyomi by Glitch Network looks pretty awesome too!

God Complex: Tsukuyomi is one of the Three Great Rulers of Nippon. “Silence of the Night” is a title the humans gave him since he only appears during a stormless sundown. Being a quiet and reserved character, little is known about him. His mystery gave birth to legends and rumors. Ancient humans believed that the traditional blade he is carrying was so sharp that he used it to cut up the moon, and at every quiet night, he would slice it little by little to appease the wrath of the ocean until one day a new moon replaces the old one. Another legend said the moon was the eye of an enormous demon where misfortunes came from, and Tsukuyomi is the guardian of the night to protect humans from them.

It seems Foxbox Studio is no longer continuing the God Complex 12-inch figure series they started. See my last review of the 2014 Thailand Toy Expo FoxBox Studio exclusive Black Hermes Psychoprompus HERE and HERE. Check out the group pictures of Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex 12-inch Hermes, Hades, Inari figures posted HERE.

This latest figure from the God Complex line looks more insect-like as compared to the fox looking Inari figure. First impression I get of the head sculpt is that of a grasshopper which brings to mind the Japanese TV series "Kamen Riders" or "Masked Riders" which I watched as a kid -  check out my posts of the Kamen Riders HERE, HERE and HERE.

Review of the Funko POP! Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Dancing Groot Bobble Action Figure

From my December 2014 haul (see my earlier post HERE): this is the Funko POP! Marvel "Guardians of the Galaxy" Dancing Groot Vinyl Bobble-head Action Figure. Funko POP! Marvel "Guardians of the Galaxy" Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax and Gamera figures were all planned together and released as a set earlier, hence the running numbers from 47 to 52. Dancing Groot seems to have been an afterthought (hence number 65) due to the overwhelming consumer demand upon the release of the film at the theaters with almost everyone falling in love with the dancing baby Groot in a scene grooving to the retro 70s music. What's there not to love, he's just too cute! It seems Funko POP! has timed Dancing Groot's release in time for Christmas :)

Groot first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 (Nov. 1960), and was created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Dick Ayers. An extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature, Groot originally appeared as an invader that intended to capture humans for experimentation. The character was reintroduced as a heroic, noble being in 2006, and appeared in the crossover comic book storyline "Annihilation: Conquest". Groot went on to star in its spin-off series, Guardians of the Galaxy, joining the team of the same name.

December 2014 First Haul: United States Riot Police, Mission Important, Groot and Call of Duty

These are my haul for December 2014 so far: ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Police Shawn 12-inch figure, Brother Production Present 1:6 scale Custom Hand Made "Mission Important" 12-inch Action Figure, Funko POP! Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Dancing Groot Bobble Action Figure, Mega Bloks Call of Duty Desert Troopers and Mega Bloks Call of Duty Juggernaut.

12-inch figures feature strongly in all my hauls because I really dig this hobby of collecting 1/6 scale figures. It all started way back in 1994 (that's the last century, by the way) and I still haven't stopped yet. What's a 49-year-old man doing playing with toys / collectibles? I simply ENJOY it! I really appreciate the details of the figure and the process that went into putting the figure together for sale, and then me having to assemble the figure and taking pictures of the figure in various poses – sometimes even having to take them apart for closer examination – it's really a FUN thing to do. And being able to share them on my toy blog is all part of the sweet deal. Sometimes I even get figures sent to me for reviews - how cool is that! I wouldn't want it any other way.

The cover picture for the ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Police "Shawn" boxed figure set (preview pictures posted earlier HERE) looks more like a scene from a post-apocalyptic future than a riot scene which I think ZCWO was trying to portray. The picture seems to fit the world of Mad Max (just saw the trailer and am very excited to see the movie when it comes out). I think the box background would work well with the post-apocalyptic figures I have, 1/6 scale Denzel Washington as Eli from "Book of Eli" (review of MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch figure posted HERE and HERE) and 12-inch Will Smith as Robert Neville from "I am Legend" (review of MC Toys 1/6 scale Trialmaster Leather Jacket suit HERE)

Preview DAM TOYS Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 6 "Ada" (first female figure in series)

Young and Aggressive, Eager to have a Foothold!

The 6 of spades, Ada, is J’s little sister. Growing up in the gang and being a smart whistle, she was very much loved by the K of spades and other family elderlies. Their fondness indulged her becoming a spoiled rebel. Ever since her father got together with Q, Ada’s mother was depressed and worried. She finally passed away in depression. Ada hated Q, enough to pick up fights against Q anywhere she can. She hoped that one day, she would be the new Q.

The death of her mother took a huge impact on Ada. She took booze and drugs as her defense. She was somewhat boyish since a little girl, and her favor of knives and guns led to her strong interest in Japanese Katana. Her Kenjutsu curriculum was mainly Ittō-ryū, which was a very intense dueling style, focused on simple and fast techniques where no unnecessary movements were made. This style of Kenjutsu is heavy on the offense and light on the defense, but the high velocity starts from pulling out the weapon often gives quite some advantage in the first several rounds. Even her techniques were not quite exquisite, the few moves J taught her were enough in case of facing some street bullies. Her father and brother never wanted her getting into the gang, but her spoiled character led her involve herself into various actions without permission. During those actions and battles, her passable Kenjutsu and accumulated experience gradually got the tacit approval of the family.

After J escaped, she was afraid of losing her foothold in the gang. Being young and aggressive, she is no match for Q. Hopefully there are some members in the family that J trusted offered her protection in secret; These as well as K’s position granted her some last dignity.

After receiving the hand of 3 of Spades, Ada was furious. She went to see her father asking for his help with the ransom, but was stopped by Q emphasizing that the whole thing is most likely a trap. But how could bold little Ada tolerate Q’s shirking, she went to seek help from her brother’s most trusted hand, the 7 of spades. 7 also noticed the smell of a trap, but he could not stop Ada’s impulse; He had no choice but to give Ada his word, and started preparing for the ransom…

The 007 James Bond Car Collection 1:43 scale Lotus Esprit from "The Spy Who Loved Me"

SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) is a fictional global terrorist organisation featured in the James Bond novels by Ian Fleming, the films based on those novels, and James Bond video games. Led by evil genius and supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the supranational organisation first formally appeared in the novel Thunderball (1961) and in the film Dr. No (1962). SPECTRE is the title of the 24th Bond film, scheduled for release in 2015 with Daniel Craig returning as the MI6 agent.

The James Bond film series is a British series of spy films based on the fictional character of MI6 agent James Bond, "007", who originally appeared in a series of books by Ian Fleming. It is one of the longest continually-running film series in history, having been in on-going production from 1962 to the present (with a six-year hiatus between 1989 and 1995). A rather amazing feat IMHO

This is a 1:43 scale Lotus Esprit from the 1977 "The Spy Who Loved Me" film. It was part of The 007 James Bond Car Collection series by Eaglemoss Collections, published by Eaglemoss Ltd. It was part of my November 2014 haul (posted earlier HERE). Of all the cars in the James Bond films, this was the only car that stood out for me.

When the Esprit - the ultimate sports car of its time - plunged off a jetty into the sea, we the audience were stunned. Then the unbelievable thing happened! To this day, the car's transformation into a submarine is one of the most memorable scenes of any movie. This was the film that introduced me to the world of James Bond back in 1977.

Dam Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Diamond 3 12-inch figure (Danny Trejo Machete?) Review II

continued from previous post...

In my first part review of this recently released DAM TOYS (GK006) 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure, I covered the packaging and its contents including a well illustrated comic book done in the style of Mike Mignola and Frank Miller's Sin City. Now let's see how it all comes together.

DAM TOYS 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure comes with 1/6 scale Head sculpt (with stylized Danny Trejo as Machete likeness), 12-inch Action body, long brown coat, Long sleeve black v-neck t-shirt, Black leather pants, Black motorcycle vest, specially designed leather-like knife carrier, lots of knives (including two Kukri knives which are stored in specially designed scabbards), black belt with buckle, High barrel cowboy boots, left hand wrist bands, right hand wrist support, Palm / hands x 3, necklace

It's amazing how Dam Toys is able to capture Danny Trejo's portrait in a stylized head sculpt. What's interesting is that the Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch figure not only resembles the actor but also the character he plays in the films "Machete (2010)" and "Machete Kills (2013)".

Review 1: Dam Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Diamond 3 12-inch figure: Danny Trejo Machete?

This was part of my November 2014 haul (see my post HERE). This is the sixth Gangsters Kingdom figure that Dam Toys has released, if you don't count the exclusives which are the DAM Toys STGCC 2014 Gangsters Kingdom GK001EX Spade J 12-inch figure (with a limited run of 300 pieces) and the DAM Toys CICF 2014 Exclusive Gangsters Kingdom - Side Story - 1/6 scale Saxon 12-inch figure. There's the regular Spade J, 2, 3 and 4 followed by Diamond 2 and now Diamond 3.

For this first part review of the DAM TOYS (GK006) 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure alone, I've posted 31 pictures. I obviously took a lot more photos but have selected these 31 photos for review #1 which covers the box packaging and its contents, plus a bit more. Guess you can tell I really like this Gangsters Kingdom series by Dam Toys. What's there not to like? A refreshing change from the usual movie merchandising figures and military line of action figures. Movie-related products cost much more than the regular products due to it being an officially licensed product. The manufacturer pays for the license but obviously passes it down to we buyers / collectors. If the manufacturer manages to skirt the licensing issue, then at least we can be assured of a figure at a much lower price. That's why military figures cost less than movie or video game-related figures. There's no need to pay any government money to make figures based on that country's army or special forces. Although the price of military figures have also been rising steadily too.

All of Dam Toys Gangster Kingdom 12-inch figures have stylized head sculpts (and hands) which is one of the things that make this line unique but this is the first head sculpt from the line with rooted hair. Dam Toys is really trying everything to make things work! It's a very good move given that the particular character in question has long hair like a girl's. Makes you wonder if Hot Toys should have gone with rooted hair for their Winter Soldier figure (reviewed earlier in my toy blog HERE and HERE). Besides long hair, Diamond 3 "Juarez" also has a very long and interesting history / backstory. What's even more interesting is that he looks a lot like Danny Trejo's character Machete Cortez from the 2010 American action film "Machete".

Check out this POP Toys 1/6 scale Shadow Ninja Figure Set - League of Shadows "Henri Ducard"

In the 2005 superhero film "Batman Begins" based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman, Liam Neeson portrays Henri Ducard, a mysterious man who finds and trains Bruce Wayne in the martial arts. Initially posing as a subservient member of the League of Shadows, an organization led by Ra's al Ghul, it is later revealed that he is Ra's al Ghul himself who used the name "Ducard" as a pseudonym to hide his true identity. Neeson is commonly cast as a mentor, so the revelation that his character was the main villain was intended to shock viewers.

Writer David Goyer said he felt Henri Ducard / Ra's al Ghul was the most complex of all the Batman villains, "He's not crazy in the way that all the other Batman villains are. He's not bent on revenge; he's actually trying to heal the world. He's just doing it by very draconian means."

POP Toys 1/6 scale Shadow Ninja Figure Set Features: Highly realistic and life-like 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Head gear, Breastplate, Shoulder armor, Gardebras, Crotch armor, Shin armor, Ninja clothing (Tunic, Pants), Battle boots, Metal ninja blade, Scabbard, Gloved Hands x 6
