Custom-made 1/6th scale Ghost Rider Lighted-up Head and Costume set at The Little Box

Ghost Rider is the name of several fictional supernatural antiheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Marvel had previously used the name for a Western character whose name was later changed to Phantom Rider. The first supernatural Ghost Rider is stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze, who, in order to save the life of his father, agreed to give his soul to "Satan" (later revealed to be an arch-demon named Mephisto). At night and when around evil, Blaze finds his flesh consumed by hellfire, causing his head to become a flaming skull. He rides a fiery motorcycle and wields trademark blasts of hellfire from his skeletal hands. Nicolas Cage starred as Johnny Blaze in the 2007 film Ghost Rider and the sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in 2012.

The Little Box (check out their facebook page HERE) is offering a custom-made 1/6th scale Ghost Rider Lighted-up Head and Costume set which consists of Head Sculpt (Lighted up Skull with flames), Leather-like biker's jacket, Leather-like biker pants, Black Tee, Shoes, Gauntlets, Gloved hands, Chains. Review 1: Bandai Tamashii Movie Realization Teppo Ashigaru Sandtrooper 7" action figure

This was part of my March 2016 haul which was posted on my toy blog HERE

And since today is Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you), I thought it'll be most appropriate to post something Star Wars related.

Sandtroopers were stormtroopers equipped to operate on desert worlds. Their armor was augmented with cooling fans and a helmet sand filter. In addition, they wore a survival backpack stocked with extra rations and water. We first knew of the Sandtroopers in the original 1977 Star Wars (now known as Episode IV: A New Hope) film when a detachment of sandtroopers were dispatched to the surface of the planet Tatooine, where they searched for the missing Death Star plans. During the search, some troopers utilized the native dewbacks as mounts.

One of the most revolutionary things about Star Wars when it came out was, that the things in the movies did look like they were used. Everything was dirty, sooty and worn-out. Before Star Wars it was more common for science-fiction movies to look clean and futuristic. This look, that George Lucas called a “used universe”, heavily supports the believability of the Star Wars universe. This "used" look was most evident with the Sandtroopers.

Inspired by the Imperial Sandtroopers seen in the Star Wars movies, the designers at Bandai has reimagined these Sandtroopers as foot infantry soldiers of feudal Japan who come with a special backpack designed with meticulous detail and finished with a rusty look. The Star Wars Sandtroopers wore colored pauldrons as a designation of rank. This Bandai Tamashii Movie Realization Teppo Ashigaru Sandtrooper 7-inch (18cm) tall action figure is no different. A sandtrooper sergeant's pauldron was white, while an enlisted trooper's pauldron was all black. Squad leaders, who led units of seven troopers, wore orange shoulder pauldrons.

Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Variant "Batman: Timeless - Sparta" Batman action figure review 1

A Batman will always exist, as the the Dark Knight is timeless.

Legends exist regardless of the time: Throughout generations, there has always been a force of justice that agents of crime, chaos and evil have contended with. Every incarnation of Batman that existed throughout time stood as a beacon of hope and the reflection of the age it is a part of. Utilizing and innovating the technology available, Batman is ever vigilant even in lawless times. These Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless" action figures provide us a chance to see the various concepts of the famous vigilante now envisioned through intriguing epochs of time.

This is the recently released Square Enix Play Arts Kai 1/7th scale DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless - Sparta" action figure. The designers at Play Arts Kai have re-imagined Batman as a Spartan-like warrior. Sparta was unique in ancient Greece for its social system and constitution, which completely focused on military training and excellence. Sparta's reputation as a land-fighting force was unequalled. In 480 BC a small force of Spartans, Thespians, and Thebans led by King Leonidas (approximately 300 were full Spartiates, 700 were Thespians, and 400 were Thebans although these numbers do not reflect casualties incurred prior to the final battle), made a legendary last stand at the Battle of Thermopylae against the massive Persian army, inflicting very high casualties on the Persian forces before finally being encircled. The superior weaponry, strategy, and bronze armour of the Greek hoplites and their phalanx again proved their worth one year later when Sparta assembled at full strength and led a Greek alliance against the Persians at the battle of Plataea. The decisive Greek victory at Plataea put an end to the Greco-Persian War along with Persian ambition of expanding into Europe.

In this fictional retelling of the Sparta story, a lone man survives the massacre of his entire tribe and vows to exact vengeance on the corrupt leaders who had a hand in exterminating his people. He operates as a lone dark knight against all the criminal elements of his time under his tribe's creed: Gothe Heam Stundes (Justice comes for you).

Comparison pictures of Samurai Taisho Darth Vader & Ronin Kenzan Boba Fett 7" action figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

Having reviewed both the Bandai Tamashii Nations Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm action figure (posted HERE and HERE) as well as Bandai Tamashii Nations Star Wars Movie Realization 7-inch tall Ronin Kenzan Boba Fett action figure (posted earlier HERE and HERE), it's time to put the two action figures side-by-side for a size comparison.

Star Wars gave us a lot of interesting characters, chief among them has to be Darth Vader and Boba Fett, two of the most notorious and famous villains we have ever come across. These two have been made into so many countless action figures that it boggles the mind but they have never been re-imagined and re-designed as Samurai warriors until now. And that is why Bandai Tamashii Nations‘ Movie Realization series for Star Wars has made such an impact, becoming one of the most sought-after lines in the collecting community. They are different, they are unique and they are beautifully designed and thought out. I already have four from the series (these two plus a Ashigaru Stormtrooper action figure which I have reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE as well as the Teppo Ashigaru Sandtrooper which will be reviewed soon) and am looking forward to the Akonaze Royal Guard.

All the Star Wars characters being reimagined as Japanese warriors so far have masks and helmets which helps in the redesign. We haven't seen any of the heroes from the film franchise because most of them have faces (Luke, Leia and Han Solo) which might be a little more tricky to interpret. Still, I am glad that these figures got made and even though they are not 1:6 scale, I for one am not complaining.

Official Photos of MAFEX Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Knightmare Batman Figure!

Even way before we got our first look at the feature-length superhero showdown that is "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" there was a huge amount of chatter and speculation circling about the "Knightmare" dream sequence that shows a captured Batman (Ben Affleck) and a pretty scary looking Man of Steel (Henry Cavill). The footage provided us with a glimpse into a terrible dystopian future, a world swarming with Darkseid's Parademons and the Omega brand burned into the ground as Batman stands above a ruined city (presumably either Gotham or Metropolis).

MAFEX Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Knightmare Batman Figure stands about 6.3-inch tall, has 20 points of articulation, includes masked and unmasked head sculpts, a rifle, a pistol along with binoculars. It will retail for 5,800 Yen or $52.00 U.S., and hits the shelves December 2016. These preview pictures give us a better look at Knightmare Batman, his outfit and weapons seen in the film.

Preview Very Cool 1/6th scale "Dou Zhanshen" Series - RAKSA 12-inch female action figure

The wind and fire comes quickly with electricity.
The ghosts are also sad when the narrow fan starts to dance.

She walks on the fire line, and seems so calm and comfortable, the fit robe makes her long stature exquisitely carved. Every step she walks can reflect a healthy sheen from high to the waist of the slits, and the proud breasts seems to bounce out of the corset. As the flames burn, the mast scull is ashes to ashes.

In the war between the god and the evil, the demon family follows Sun Wukong to challenge the gods, they regard Sun Wukong as their hero, and they are willing to go through fire and water for him. But five hundred years later, Sun Wukong wears the Incantation of the Golden Hoop and forgets who he was in the past. The demon family feel being cheated. April 2015 Haul: ACplay 1/6th scale The Leader Outfit, World Box Durable Body & Sparta Batman

April 2016 has been a slow month in terms of my toy haul. These are the action figures and 1:6 scale accessories I got: ACplay ATX008 1/6th scale The Leader Outfit for Hot Toys Narrow Shoulder Body, World Box VT-003 1/6th scale Durable Body (Narrow Shoulders) and Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant - Batman Timeless Sparta action figure.

I never bothered to get the Hot Toys Nick Fury action figure because I always felt that he was a bit overpriced. All the heroes had special costumes and weapons that made them unique and one-of-a-kind but what Nick Fury wore was just tactical clothing which could be gotten easily. So when ACplay previewed their Leader Outfit set, I just had to go for it because it was basically Nick Fury's costume in The Avengers but a lot cheaper. It also helped that ACplay also released a 1:6 scale Nick head sculpt :)

Spider-Man goes the way of the Samurai with Tamashii Nations‘ Manga Realization series

From Star Wars (see previous toy blog post) to Marvel superheroes...

Over the past year, Tamashii Nations‘ Movie Realization series for Star Wars has stormed onto toy shelves everywhere and made quite the impact, becoming one of the most sought-after lines in the collecting community. Tamashii’s bold interpretations and re-imagination took the Star Wars back to its original inspirations, and gave us some of the most unique and captivating Star Wars action figures ever. Now the Japanese company is turning its eye to comics (manga in Japanese), and putting heroes like Spider-Man through the same feudal era lens.

Reimagining MARVEL heroes starting with Samurai Spider-Man! Tamashii Nations take Spider-Man back to Feudal Japan in full, web-like Samurai warrior armor design.

Spider-Man comes with two blades, a few sets of hands (including web-shooting hands), and a grappling hook and line. There may not be a crazy amount of articulation in there, but Tamashii has included enough to get Spider-Man in some fun poses.

Review II: Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm action figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

This is a second-part review of the Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm tall action figure, designed by Takayuki Takeya. Here Darth Vader is shown wielding his lightsaber sword. The blade is translucent red to give the impression of a light based sword rather than a solid steel sword, in line with the interpretation that Star Wars existed in feudal Japan when the samurais were lords of their domain and fought battles to rule over more land. This Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader looks to be inspired by actual samurai armor worn by warrior Date Masamune. Check out the 1:6 scale version of Samurai Date Masamune released by DiD a while back - see my action figure review HERE.

Besides this Samurai Darth Vader action figure, Bandai has also released a Ashigaru Stormtrooper action figure (review posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE), a Ronin Kenzan Boba Fett action figure (reviewed HERE and HERE) and a Teppo Ashigaru Sandtrooper action figure (part of my March 2016 haul - posted HERE). That's four down and more on the way.

Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm action figure review 1

continued from previous toy blog post (still on the subject of Darth Vader)...

This figure was from my October 2015 toy haul (posted on my toy blog HERE)

Everyone knows George Lucas drew inspiration from Akira Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress" for Star Wars, particularly the droids C-3P0 and R2-D2. Not only that, Darth Vader's armor / overall look also was based very much on the Japanese samurai armor, specifically Date Masamune's samurai armor (Check out the 1/6 scale Date Masamune Samurai 12-inch figure released by DID posted in my toy blog HERE). Fighting with light sabers were very much mimicking the sword duels of the Samurais.

This Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader action figure, designed by Takayuki Takeya, is about 18 cm tall, and comes with three pairs of alternate hands and lightsaber sword pieces - one with fully extended Lightsaber blade and one with just the Lightsaber hilt. This Samurai Darth Vader has over 15 points of articulation and is cast in ABS and PVC plastics. This figure is the first in Bandai's Star Wars Movie Realization series and was not released in great numbers because many people failed to pre-order and there was a shortage in supply to retailers once the figure was released which caused the price to skyrocket pretty fast. I'm glad I got mine and would like to share these pictures with you guys :)

Cat Toys 1:6 scale Dark Mourner 12-inch female action figure - all covered up but the boobies

Every time a company tries to put out fantasy female figures, inevitably the boobs will be shown. Is it because they think that the majority of collectors who happen to be male will be drawn to the figure's bust since that's something females have that males don't? They do bring back "mammaries" after all LOL

Cat Toys 1:6 scale Dark Mourner 12-inch female action figure features: Coat, Rooted hair female head sculpt, Alternate masked female head sculpt, Mid Bust body, Hands (3 pairs), Swimsuit, Bust strap, Waist strap, Gloves, Stockings (pair), High heel shoes, Sword, Art box

Interestingly enough, Cat Toys first female figure released looked a lot like a certain Harley from the upcoming film which was previewed in my previous toy blog post HERE. This second figure looks to be from a different genre altogether.

DC Collectibles Suicide Squad Statues: Harley Quinn, Katana, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Joker + 1

It feels good to be bad.

Suicide Squad is an upcoming American superhero film (scheduled to be released on August 5, 2016) based on the DC Comics antihero team of the same name. It is intended to be the third installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film is written and directed by David Ayer and stars an ensemble cast featuring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne. Premise: A secret government agency known as "Task Force X," led by Amanda Waller, recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency and saving the world from an unknown but powerful threat.

Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself!

The unhinged heart of the Suicide Squad is ready to play! This highly detailed statue captures the movie look of Margot Robbie as the unpredictable antihero Harley Quinn, as she appears in the blockbuster Suicide Squad film. Harley's pose captures the character's dangerous, mischievous personality, so you'd better keep an eye on that baseball bat. Measures approximately 12" tall.
