"Batman Returns" 1:6 scale Catwoman figure REVIEW 1

From Marvel characters in the previous post to a DC character that has appeared on film :) The Marvel vs. DC dogfight has raged since the beginning of comic book time. Marvel has had more success with movies: first with "Blade" in 1998, leading to "X-Men (2000)", "Spider-Man (2002)", "Daredevil (2003)", "Hulk (2003)" and the list goes on, with "Iron Man (2008)" and "Iron Man 2 (2010)" being the latest to hit our screens.

DC, on the other hand, other than the "Superman" films, has had some success with the "Batman" franchise. "Batman Returns" is a 1992 American superhero film directed by Tim Burton. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, it is the sequel to Burton's "Batman (1989)", and features Michael Keaton reprising the title role, with Danny DeVito as the Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.

This is "CatLady, a Custom Hand Made Figure" (that's what it says repeatedly all over the box packaging), manufacturer unknown. What I do know is that there were quite a number of these 12-inch (approximate, actually just about 11.5 inches tall) feline figures at the shop where I picked it up and that means there must have been quite a pre-order for this figure :p proving that Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman is still popular after all these years

This is the "CatLady" figure out of her box. Obviously she is supposed to be Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle / Catwoman. In the 1992 film, she starts out as a quiet and shy secretary for Max Shreck, before transforming into Catwoman after an attempt on her life. She becomes a romantic interest for Bruce Wayne and a deadly adversary for Batman. She has nine lives, manifesting as a supernatural ability to live through mortal injuries eight times.

As far as I know, this is the only 1/6 scale Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle / Catwoman figure so far and what a femme fatale she is.

After Shreck throws Selina Kyle from the top of his company's building when she discovers his plan to build a super power station and drain Gotham of its electricity, she is mysteriously revived by a group of cats. Selina returns home and designs a new costume, becoming Catwoman.

Her skin tight black costume Catsuit was stitched together and as the story progressed, Selina's catsuit began to unravel in relation to her mental state. This 1/6 scale Catwoman costume seems pretty accurate, with all the stitching where they are supposed to be, including gloves, boots, mask and corset.

Selina Kyle's repressed rage allowed her to transform into the super-villainess Catwoman. Later, at The Penguin's hideout, Catwoman attacked Shreck in a rage, attempting to kill him once and for all. Although Shreck shot her several times with The Fat Clown's gun, she finally has her revenge, electrocuting Shreck by kissing him with a Taser in her mouth; Batman only found her whip, not her body.

The final shot of Catwoman looking at the Bat-Signal was completed during post-production and was not part of the shooting script. After "Batman Returns" was completed, Warner Bros. felt it was best for Catwoman to survive, saving more characterizations in a future installment.

On the whole, I think the catsuit is pretty well stitched and rather skin-tight for a 1:6 scale female figure (fem fig). Nicely done :)

Besides the basic feline figure in her black costume with mask, gloves, boots and corset, there are four extra gloved hands - one pair of claw hands and one right hand for holding the whip handle and one left hand for posing. There are also two non-gloved hands which seem rather unnecessary since they are most unlikely to be used at all. Finally Catwoman has her whip, her favored weapon.

In the next post, we'll look at close-ups of the 1:6 scale Catwoman head sculpt.Does she look like Michelle Pfeiffer?

Also check out the real claws (pictures of actual props) Catwoman wore in the film.

I sm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I got this Doll. I bought It in 2015 on a Brazilian site similar to eBay. I have no idea of the origins of the doll, and I donr have the contact of the person who sold me It anymore. Is it a Hot Toys figure?

Hi Ricardo, this is not a Hot Toys figure. I also don't know the company's name because it's a one-off. Cheers
