Review 1: MC Toys 1/6 The End Walker 12" figure - Denzel Washington in "The Book of Eli"

This is the recently released MC Toys F-034 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch figure which is inspired by / based on the character Denzel Washington played in the 2010 American post-apocalyptic action film "The Book of Eli". This was part of my first haul of 2014.

"The Book of Eli" was directed by the Hughes brothers, written by Gary Whitta, and starred Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals. The story revolves around Eli, a nomad in a post-apocalyptic world, who is told by a voice to deliver his copy of a mysterious book to a safe location on the West Coast of the United States. The history of the post-war world is explained along the way, as is the importance of Eli's task. (source: wiki)

Thirty years after a nuclear apocalypse, Eli (Denzel Washington) travels on foot toward the west coast of the United States. Along the way, he demonstrates uncanny survival and fighting skills, hunting wildlife and swiftly defeating a group of highway bandits who try to ambush him. Eli has a book of great importance that Carnegie (Gary Oldman) desires and wants, believing that it will give him the power to build and control more towns.

MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch action figure (ITEM #F-034) comes with a 1/6 scale Head Sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Coat, Pants, Long Sleeve T-Shirt, Short Sleeve t-shirt, Inmate Iridium Sunglasses, 870 Shotgun, .45 Pistol, Panel Pack, Scarf, Gloves, Leather Boots, Beanie, MP3 with ear headphone, Machete, Leather Machete Sheath

The End Walker comes with an instruction on how to make recommended cuts on the coat for the strap of the Machete sheath to slip through and fastened. I won't be doing that. Also has instructions on the removal of the head sculpt and leather boots.

Here's the MC Toys The End Walker 12-inch action figure without his long sleeve T-shirt and coat, wearing just the 1/6 scale white T-shirt, pants and black leather boots

Now with Khaki long sleeve T-shirt worn. It matches the color of his pants

The 1/6 scale green coat worn by MC Toys The End Walker reminds me of the olive green M51 Field Jacket worn by the American soldiers during the Vietnam War. It also had waist and hem draw cords.

Close-up pictures of the MC Toys The End Walker 1/6 scale head sculpt. Does it resemble Denzel Washington in the 2010 post-apocalyptic film "The Book of Eli"?

MC Toys The End Walker 1/6 scale gear and accessories all laid out: green coat, Scarf, Panel Pack, Beanie, 870 Shotgun, .45 Pistol, Gloves, Leather Machete Sheath, Machete, MP3 with ear phone, Inmate Iridium Sunglasses

Gloves, Leather Machete Sheath and Machete. For close quarters combat, Eli is armed with the Khukri,or Kukri, a Nepalese melee weapon, similar to what Alice uses in the Resident Evil films

1/6 scale short barreled Remington 870 "Witness Protection" shotgun and .45 pistol. Eli (Denzel Washington) carries a weathered Heckler & Koch HK45 pistol as his sidearm throughout the film.

The short barreled Remington 870 "Witness Protection" shotgun is stored in his haversack / backpack (it's actually a Oakley Panel Pack backpack) when not in use.

Three extra hands and an extra neck post

I lucked out and scored this guy for $86,yes $86! I love the movie having seen it several times,so when it pre ordered out of nowhere it was a MUST have. I made those cuts in the coat (which I recommend) for the machete strap and also shaved a few millimeters off the neck post as it's REALLY too long. In addition, I snipped the ends of shade stems so I could fit the hat better which was a @$!#&% to put on and make look decent. The sculpt isn't dead on, but with the shades its way better. Keeping an eye out fora better after market one. It's a really cool, non-licensed, small production figure, I'm happy.

Thanks for sharing :) Glad you are happy with your purchase. I agree that this is a really cool, non-licensed, small production figure and we need more figures like these instead of the highly expensive Hot Toys figures.

I've squinted my eyes and still I don't see a resemblance to Denzel Washington. It's non-licensed so maybe the manufacturer, MC Toys, did not want to get into trouble for that? However, it is a fine figure of a playscale action figure so I would get it on that alone, lol.

I saw the movie - liked most of it except the cat killing, ick. Noooo ... the cats are our friends, I wanted to protest.

I'd probably sell the weapons and possibly the boots: the boots are works of art, but I'm lazy about lacing up doll shoes ;-)

P.S. You know I gotta blog this to share. Thanks for sharing.

No problem Sir..... Did those cloth glove drive you insane getting them on too? And if not, what was your method... For my own edification.

Having never seen the movie I cannot comment to the likeness of Denezel portraying Eli. However, after viewing the doll from different angles there is a slight resemblance to Washington himself. He has been on my wishlist since I first saw him.

Hey humanbeingill, the cloth glove wasn't all that difficult ;p I use a credit card to push the glove downwards in between the fingers as the plastic card will not tear the cloth and makes the glove fit better into the fingers. This works best with the flexible / bendy hands. As for rigid posed hands like these ones, I had to make cuts to the fingers as they were fused together. More tricky than usual but turned out okay :)
