Square Enix Play Arts Kai 2014 RoboCop version 1.0 Review II - where does he store his guns?

continued from previous post...

RoboCop is the 2014 remake of the 1987 film of the same name. The film stars Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, a Detroit police officer who is critically injured in the line of duty. OmniCorp, a multinational conglomerate brings Murphy back to life as the cybernetic police officer RoboCop. The film was directed by José Padilha (Elite Squad) and co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Gary Oldman.

While the classic 1987 RoboCop (Peter Weller) was bulkier and more machine like, this reboot version with Joel Kinnaman inside the robot suit is sleeker and looks more human. The final version (version 3.0) the company OmniCorp went for in the film was painted all black for a more "tactical look". I much prefer this version as the paintwork and colors are more similar to the original RoboCop.

One of the unique things about 1987 RoboCop that we all liked was the hidden holster in his right thigh which opens and ejects his Auto 9 pistol. The producers of the 2014 RoboCop reboot went one up and gave the new RoboCop two guns and two holsters, one on each thigh.

At 23 cm or 9 inches tall, this would make the Square Enix Play Arts Kai 2014 RoboCop version 1.0 a 1/7 scale figure and although this figure is all plastic, it does look good and has nice details. Square Enix has certainly created an impressive figure with authentic silver and black paintwork plus intricate details to bring this movie-accurate RoboCop action figure to collectors and fans.

The figure comes with extra parts for you to create the pop-out guns look for this 2014 reboot RoboCop figure. You can compare the pictures of the previous post where RoboCop's thighs are "normal" and the photographs posted here with the guns coming out from the two sides.

The left thigh holds the customized SMG (Sub-Machine Gun) in stored position. There's also the fully extended / deployed version for shooting with.

The picture below shows the holder when the gun is removed.

The right thigh holds the customized pistol in stored position. The fully extended / deployed version for shooting is also included. Both versions are shown side-by-side in the earlier post HERE.

RoboCop's customized pistol is a Beretta with a custom shell that was created using a 3D printer. Mattox (Jackie Earle Haley), OmniCorp armorer and RoboCop's trainer, called the "TSR 66", his main sidearm in the film.

The picture below shows the holster when the pistol is removed.

Scroll down to see the pictures of the Square Enix Play Arts Kai 2014 RoboCop version 1.0 holding both weapons (fully extended) in his hands. IMHO I think the pistol is a tad big in this scale

NEXT: More pictures of 2014 RoboCop version 1.0 taking aim with his gun. Perpetrators, watch out!
